From light sources that consumed criminal amount of energy and needing frequent replacement due to their short life span to hugely energy efficient LED lighting that also has a very long life span, the pattern of usage of LED lighting is also undergoing a sea change.
LED lighting not only addresses the issues of high energy consumption and short life span, the technology brings with it a range of possibilities hitherto unthinkable. Colour changing lighting to remote controllability virtually from any part of the globe, LED lighting has opened a Pandora box of exciting new possibilities.
Indian Society of Lighting Engineers has always taken pride and the initiative in putting forth to the users, the specifiers as well as general enthusiasts of lighting in Central India, the latest trends and the benefits that the newest technology in the field of lighting has to offer. The upcoming day-long seminar on the theme “Intelligent Lighting – Emerging Trends”, scheduled to be held on 20th January 2017 at Hotel Radisson Blu, Indore promises to be the most exciting, enriching and rewarding event thus far for the participants. It is a rare opportunity to have the first-hand account of the intelligent possibilities that the integration of solid state lighting with electronics can bring to the table. Indian Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE)

The Indian Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE) is a professional body in the field of illuminating engineering with a broad based membership of scientists, engineers, architects, academicians, researchers, designers and others interested in lighting issues. ISLE is affiliated to the CIE, the International Commission on Illumination. It is also a member of Lux Pacifica, a lighting body that represents 60% of the world's population. It is closely associated with the Bureau of Indian Standards, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, the Department of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Power, the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources and the Electrical Lamp and Component Manufacturers Association of India.

ISLE, Madhya Pradesh State Centre, Indore is proactively working for the cause of ISLE in Central India.

Objectives

ELCOMA(Electrical Lamp and Component Manufacturers Association of India)

Ever since its inception ISLE has worked closely with ELCOMA especially in the organising of its International Conferences and Exhibitions.

International Affiliations

CIE - Commission International de l’Eclairage (International Commission on Illumination)

India is a member of the apex international body on lighting, CIE through ISLE and is represented on the different CIE Divisions that conduct the organisation’s technical work. ISLE members are on some CIE Technical Committees and in fact have even chaired certain TCs. The Editor of Division 5, Exterior Lighting and other Applications is an ISLE member. Another member is presently Vice President on the Board of the CIE and has been re-elected till 2007.The quadrennial CIE Session was held in New Delhi in 1995.


Lux Pacifica

Lux Pacifica is a lighting body that represents 60% of the world’s population. It is made up of the national lighting societies of Australia and New Zealand (IEANZ), China (CIES), India (ISLE), Japan (IEIJ), Russia (VNISI), South Africa (IESSA) and Thailand (TIES).The 4th Lux Pacifica Conference was held in New Delhi in 2002


IESNA – Illuminating Engineering Society of North America

ISLE has a Memorandum of Understanding with IESNA for cooperation in many spheres of activity. This association has been reinforced by the entry of India into Lux Pacifica, of which IESNA is a founder member.


IILE – Institution of Lighting Engineers

ISLE has a Memorandum of Understanding with ILE for cooperation in different spheres of activity.


SAARC

At the initiative of ISLE the first Lighting Conference of the SAARC Countries was held in New Delhi in October 1991. This conference brought together delegates from the different countries of South Asia to discuss lighting issues that are specific to the region. The second conference was also held in Delhi in October 1995. Since then this conference has been held in Kathmandu in 1996 and Dhaka in 1999.


IESANZ – Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand

At the 4th Lux Pacifica held in New Delhi in September 2002, ISLE and IESANZ signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in different spheres of activity.


ISA - International SSL Alliance

ISA (International SSL Alliance) is an international alliance of regional alliances and associations, renowned universities and institutions and leading companies in the SSL field. ISLE is represented on the Board of ISA.
